March 3rd, 2008 General Meeting

NEXT MEETING: Monday March 24th, 2008 ; 6pm ; ENGR 214 (MEP)

**Important points: Officer Elections (II) ; Projects (V)

I. Change of Officers
  • Chase ≠President
  • Dane = President ≠External Vice President
  • Doug May = Professional Chapter President
**II. Executive Board Officer Elections
  • Elections need to be done early so previous officers can pass on their information/"knowledge" onto the new officers before they graduate
  • elections will be held next meeting (March 24th - Monday after Spring Break)
    • all positions open
    • Jessy & Dane will be graduating in May so necessary to find someone to replace them
    • descriptions of all positions on website (under Contact Us Page)
  • if interested in running for a position, please contact Alicia & she'll make the announcement
  • any questions about positions, feel free to contact the current officer
III. Professional Chapter Update
  • Professional Chapter will be holding meetings at same time as our general meetings
  • assisting in the process of raising funds through rotary for GHANA project
  • Raytheon created an EWB chapter within professional chapter
  • currently working on Salamanca water desalination project in Mexico
  • attempting to work with Sari (?) Indians also in Mexico on other water projects
  • offers opportunities for students to work with professionals
IV.  Resources
  • EWB-USA website
    • "Active" members (those who paid dues & gave their information to Alicia) will be able to login starting Friday (3/7/08)
      • username: your email address
      • password: your email address (initally)
    • provides a list of all open projects you can apply for
    • gives information on the project process
    • lists upcoming EWB-USA events
    • provides contacts
    • provides tons of other useful infortmation
**V. Projects
  • feel free to browse through open projects on the EWB-USA website for projects you may be interested in applying for
  • if you find a project you think would be good for the group, contact any of the officers & they'll help you gather a team & get things together
  • REMEMBER: you are not alone! The officers are here to help you along the application process & will help you find needed contacts & other information

VI. Other Announcements

  • Intenational EWB-USA 2008 Conference
    • Thursday, March 27th - Sunday March 30th
    • University of Washington, Seattle
    • students who are really interested (& must be active in the club) should contact Alicia
    • trip should be funded by club (therefore limited amount of spots for members)
  • T-SHIRTS!!!
    • still PLENTY of T-shirts available for sale
      • male & female sizes/styles
    • contact Jessy if interested in purchasing one
      • $6 for members who've paid dues
      • $15 for members who haven't paid dues
  • Don't forget about dues!
    • Dues are $10
