For Professionals

What do EWB-UA professionals do?

Professional Mentor Measures Turbidity Although EWB-UA is a student run club, we rely on the help of many professional mentors with expertise in a multitude of areas. Our professional mentors have included hydrologists and geologists, engineers of all disciplines, anthropologists, international development specialists, and other experts.

As a professional, you can be involved as much or little as you desire, from occasional consulting or questions, to traveling internationally with EWB-UA during assessment or implementation trips.

EWB-UA students and professional mentors participate in a variety of activities, from local volunteering to overseas projects. We work year-round on a primary chapter project (currently in Mali, Africa), and have regular weekend volunteering with partners such as Habitat for Humanity and Agua Prieta Family Shelters. Our ultimate goal is to provide students and community members an opportunity to exercise their minds while helping people in need.

Do I have to be technically minded?

Absolutely not! We welcome professionals from any field! Developing sustainable and successful projects requires many skills not exclusive to the technical professions. Writing grant proposals, creating and analyzing community health surveys, researching local cultures, designing informational media, and organizing fundraisers are just some of the many tasks EWB-UA members take on.

How do I join?

Just come to any of our general meetings (see our calendar for dates), or contact our president, Chelsea Kestler, for more information.
