For Students

What do EWB-UA students do?

EWB-UA students participate in a variety of activites, from local volunteering to overseas projects. We work year-round on a primary chapter project (currently in Mali, Africa), and have regular weekend volunteering with partners such as Habitat for Humanity and Agua Prieta Family Shelters. Our ultimate goal is provide students with an opportunity to exercise their minds outside the classroom while helping people in need.

Do I have to be an engineering major?

Absolutely not! EWB-UA welcomes both undergraduate and graduate students from any major. Developing sustainable and successful projects requires many skills not exclusive to engineers. Writing grant proposals, creating and analyzing community health surveys, researching local cultures, designing informational media, and organizing fundraisers are just some of the many tasks EWB-UA students from any field can take on.

What does it cost?

Membership in EWB-UA is $15 a semester, or $25 for a year. For traveling, EWB's goal is to reimburse students for the full cost of airfare, immunizations, and travel documents, as funding allows. EWB-USA also offers scholarships and grants for students traveling for projects and EWB conferences.

How do I join?

Just come to any of our general meetings (see our calendar for dates). If you are unable to make our meeting time, or just want more information, feel free to contact any of our officers.
